And ribbon microphones (based on the Fathead II) do have a distinctive tone.
Foolishly, I was hoping it would make a great vocal mic, however its strength is in recording instrumentation.
I imagined it would sound like a warm yet bright large-diaphragm condenser mic.
In truth it sounds like a mellow/dark large-diaphragm condenser.
I like owning this microphone, and you might also, but don't expect it to be your new go-to microphone for everything.
