DYMO LabelWriter LW330 Turbo Label Printer Review

DYMO LabelWriter LW330 Turbo Label Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have to admit I was very hesitant to purchase this; in many cases, even when a product claims Mac compatibility it usually is just a bare-bones port. When DYMO released v60-something of their software for Mac OS 10 (10.2, Jaguar) I decided to give it a shot. Man, am I glad I did.
This simple little device saves a lot of time. It works from most major programs, but I find a quick copy & paste into the DYMO Label program is just as quick.
Labels print in a second or two after hitting the print button (use the Preferences to bypass the Print Command Window altogether, BTW). This saves a lot of time (and cost) in regards to full-sheet Avery-type labeling.
I've only played around with the large format Shipping Labels (DYMO 30256, 2 5/16 x 4) but there's a wealth of sizes and shapes available.
Images as well as text print sharp, depending on format of the image. I've done all sorts of client labels as well using their labels for them; they're all quite happy with the quality and I believe more than one has purchased one of these.
The only problem I've come across is address book saving; I can't seem to get it to save an address. I'm probably missing something but, as mentioned above, it's just as easy to do a quick copy & paste, for instance, from OS 10's own Address Book (which would seem to be the ideal program for DYMO to tie into).
Pros:
- Quick
- Clean
- Seamless OS 10 connectivity
- Sharp images as well as text (when using proper formats)
Cons:
- A little pricey (but honestly worth it)
- Noisy (but only for the few seconds it prints)
- Not color (but, c'mon, it's thermal!)

Brother P-touch Electronic Labeling System, Royal Blue (PT80SCCP) Review

Brother P-touch Electronic Labeling System, Royal Blue (PT80SCCP)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this little labeling system and have used a few different ones in the past 2 years since I adopted the Getting Things Done system. The system is really neat and though I am not always faithful, when I adhere to it, I am able to get things done, indeed. A labeler is critical for this system and important for organization in general and this little guy does the job.
Pluses:
-Small
-Quick
-Very nice printout
-Easy to use
-Ready-made formats for VHS/MiniDV/CDs/File tabs/Dividers
-Easy-to-obtain refills
Minuses:
-No AC power option! Even if it were an additional $20 I would do this because it is a...
-BATTERY VAMPIRE! It goes through fresh batts at an incredible rate, even using nice fresh Duracells.
[Note: I want to say that I wish this at least took AAs instead of the tiny AAAs because the small size increase means almost a tripling of the power and would be well worth it for this device. Also, some other reviewers have noted that you could use rechargeable batteries, but I find that with the always-highly-rated Eneloops, I get the "Low Batt" warning almost immediately.]
-Semi-expensive ribbon refills
-A moderate amount of ribbon waste
Overall, this is an outstanding product and is essentially perfect in function, I hold back one star given some of the practical issues on using it regularly, namely the lack of AC adapter option in the setting of pretty voracious battery use.
For folks who use it only intermittently, I give this 5 stars.
For folks using it daily, I would caution you to consider a model with the AC adapter.

Brother PT-1280 P-touch Electronic Labeling System Review

Brother PT-1280 P-touch Electronic Labeling System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After owning a P-touch labeler for years,I found the need for a more duable label than my "M" tape was providing. I opted for this "TZ" tape labeler. Good price, looks good. What a mistake!!! The only thing well designed about this unit is it's abilty to waste more tape than it uses!! If you print a label of any size, count on it costing you two full inches of tape to do it!!! At $20.00 a roll, prepare to be screwed each time you push the print button. Then go find the scissors and cut the excess off,so the label does not look as stupid as the person who designed this pile of junk!!! But cheer up you can push six buttons, every time,to reduce the margin to "narrow". This will reduce the waste to a half inch on ONE side of the label, and print two small dots on the other side, this will show you where to cut it with your scissors,to match the "narrow" side. Also you must do ALL settings for EVERY label EVERY time!!Another "great feature,it will use the same amount of tape regaurdless of print size,so you will only print large print. What a joke!!! What a hassle!! Now the good news. I used to make lots of labels, and now I only make labels for VERY important items. And only when I am up to getting mad for doing so. I really wish amazon would allow us to give items a negative five stars! You have been warned!

DYMO LabelWriter 330 Label Printer Review

DYMO LabelWriter 330 Label Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This printer replaced an old Seiko Instruments label printer that had pretty much died of old age. I opted for the non-Turbo model as speed wasn't a necessity for me, plus it saved a few bucks. Within 15 min. I had it hooked up, software installed, and printing. The print quality excellent. Software installation was painless (Win98SE and XP Pro), as is changing the labels when switching between the various sizes this printer is capable of handling. I installed via the serial port since I didn't have a vacant USB port. The package includes everything you'll need to get started, including both a USB and serial cable, and a sample package of large labels.
I found a couple of bonus features that prove to be useful. First- you can share this printer over a network simply by configuration and installing the software on the other computers. Second- there is an additional piece of software titled "Address Fixer" that will correctly format any US address to USPS standards (including the Zip+4 zip code) via your Internet connection.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my LabelWriter 330 and would recommend it to others shopping for this type of product.

Casio KL-60 Label Printer Review

Casio KL-60 Label Printer
Average Reviews:

My primary complaint with this label maker is that it is battery powered only. It takes 6 AA batteries which to me seems like overkill.
The label maker can print up to two lines of text at a time, and displays up to four characters in it's small lcd screen.
It came with 4.3 meters of 9 mm clear tape. Considering I just needed it to label some musical instruments, cell phones, and digital cameras, it suited my needs perfectly.

Xyron XRN900 9-Inch Creative Station Multi Function Crafting System Review

Xyron XRN900 9-Inch Creative Station Multi Function Crafting System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the best item I've EVER purchased for scrapbooking. I purchased it at a scrapbooking convention in San Diego and immediately felt guilty about the $75 price tag. Once I sat down to scrapbook using it, though, the guilt was gone!
It's so easy to use. You can make ANYTHING a sticker with ease. Pictures, die cuts, memorabilia, etc. If it's flat, it can be slid through the Xyron 900 and turned into a sticker. No more messy glue! It is mechanical, but not electric. You slide a cartridge in, place your picture (or whatever you want to make sticky) on one side, turn the crank and it comes out the other side as a sticker. SIMPLE! No mess, no fuss, no little removable parts to lose.
The only downside at all is that the cartridges can be pricey. I buy mine from my local Michaels ALWAYS using a 40%-50% off coupon. So, that really helps, otherwise you are looking at $30-$35 each. BUT, other adhesives can be expensive, too. I haven't attempted to see which costs more over the long run.
The other amazing thing is that you have a myriad of cartridges to choose from. You can use permanent adhesive, repositionable adhesive, MAGNET back, you can laminate, etc.
This is a MUST have for scrapbookers. You will save a great deal of time and not have sticky fingers! If you KNOW a scrapbooker and they don't have this machine... BUY IT FOR THEM. They will love you forever.

Brady BMP 21 Label Printer Review

Brady BMP 21 Label Printer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My primary use for a label printer is to mark wires in industrial electrical cabinets. I need the type of label where the text is printed repeatedly perpendicular to the label direction, then wrapped around the wire. (NOT the "flag" type where the label is just folded in half over the wire.) This type of application requires the nylon cloth tape, which is available for most brands of label makers.
I had previously used a Brady IDpal, which had some advantages but was not very reliable. After comparing and reading reviews for the Rhino 5200 and Brother P-touch units, I decided to purchase the Rhino 5200. In short, I was disappointed in the wire wrap capability of the Rhino and ended up returning it. The literature claimed that it would print labels for wires as small as 22awg (which I often use), but I came to find out that the shortest wire wrap label it will print is 1-1/4" long. Why on earth would you need 1-1/4" of label to wrap around a wire only 1/16" in diameter? For the short time I had it, I ended up trimming and wasting more label tape than I actually used.
Enter the Brady BMP21. The shortest wire wrap label it will print is 3/4", which still can be longer than necessary for tiny wires, but it's way better than the waste from the Rhino. Plus, the label cartridges are cheaper than Rhino and you can get 3/8" tape (Rhino only goes down to 1/2"). I haven't used many functions yet other than the wire wrap labels, but it seems like a rugged unit and I'm sure it will serve my purpose. The backlight is a nice touch. If you need wire wrap labels, the BMP21 would be my recommendation.

Smart Label Printer 450 with 300 Dpi for Windows and Mac (USB and Serial) (SLP-450) Review

Smart Label Printer 450 with 300 Dpi for Windows and Mac (USB and Serial) (SLP-450)
Average Reviews:

Purchased this item several months ago. It works great printing labels for envelopes, files etc. There is no ink, it uses thermal imaging instead. It only prints in black and white, but does the job cleanly and the density of the black is comparable to regular laser printers. It uses fonts and typefaces in your word processing program, so there are a lot of fonts/typeface choices. You can copy jpg images and paste them on your label, with the ability to shrink or resize them. Simple graphics are obviously better because the labels are small. You also have the ability to save anything you create. It comes with several templates, and it can automatically add bar coding to your address labels. It can print on several different standard size labels. So far, no paper jams. Nice unit that performs it's job very well. Good for home office and small business use.

the new software is much improved, and the labels really are stronger than the paper ones, which is what i wanted, but, really, the printing quality is sometimes just not what i expect - it looks fragile and uneven, as if it will flake off sooner or later. this happens less with larger fonts.

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been desperately trying to get organized, and when I found this gizmo from heaven at a heavenly price, naturally I jumped on it. After a few weeks of labeling frenzy, much like one of my other fellow reviewers, the tops of my labels started fading, then the middles, and soon the entire text of all my labels, poof! disapparated! Yes! I am a Harry Potter fan, but not for my labels in invisible ink. Tried all of the suggestions from the website. Cleaning, changing batteries, labels, cartridges. No luck. Still shooting blanks. Of course no way to put in new ink cartridges and it seems like the ink ran out. So waiting to hear back from customer service. Will post back, when and if I do. Really sad-that my labeling frenzy has been thwarted!!

Brother 1/2 Inch x 26.2 Feet White On Clear Label Ribbon for P-Touch Labelers (TZS135) Review

Brother 1/2 Inch x 26.2 Feet White On Clear Label Ribbon for P-Touch Labelers (TZS135)
Average Reviews:

The white on clear tape (this item) with strong adhesive is laminated and great for weather exposed conditions, or on places where you don't want the label to come off too easily. Because the text is white on a clear background, it's also an excellent choice when you don't want the label to stand out too much on a dark item. Even though the tape is about 26', you can conserve some of the length when printing multiple labels by setting your margin to 'Continuous' on your Brother labeler and printing several off in a row before cutting the last one from the device and using scissors to separate the individual labels where they are marked.
