Canon P1-DHII Handheld/Portable Printing Calculator Review

Canon P1-DHII Handheld/Portable Printing Calculator
Average Reviews:

I recently bought this calculator. Does anybody out there know how to insert the paper into the miniscule space they give you. This is a worthless product and the manual is no help at all. It might even be a decent calculator but what good is it if you can't get the paper roll to insert into the thing. POS

This is a wonderful Calculater!
I baught this with my Gift Certifecete, and I love it!
It's very fast, holds twelve digits, and is very light for a printer calculater. It has all buisness buttons, tax, and has even has a triple zero 000 button.
I thought I didn't want it because it took about 7 or 8 weeks to
get here, but it was worth it.
Why did I think that I didn't want it?
Buy it, you'll love it!

Canon MP18D II Professional Desktop Two Colors Printing Calculator Review

Canon MP18D II Professional Desktop Two Colors Printing Calculator
Average Reviews:

I've had a habit in the past of working so intensely when I get going that I absentmindedly dump my calculator off on the floor. The last one took that kind of abuse a couple of times and then I had to replace it. I obviously wanted to replace it with the same kind and then hopefully not abuse it.
This one is serving my purposes well and I haven't dumped it on the floor yet. I have it fastened down with Velcro, so I won't do that again.
This machine is easy to operate and functions well. I recommend it.
EDITED after much, much more use to say that I'm very pleased with it. I've had no problems. It's a good, solid machine.

This unit has good touch on the keys, good display and excellent printing for a 10-key. But I work in finance, and need good capability in calculating lots of percentage changes, and for that this model is AWFUL. The Cost, Sell, and Margin keys are somehow screwed up, and you can never get a proper answer, and yes, I have read the manual. I have to resort to a handheld calculator to get a correct result for percent change, such as a stock price appreciation. And that's pretty basic stuff. I would look elsewhere for a 10-key unless all you need is to +, -, x, & ÷.

Casio FR-2650A PLUS Printing Calculator Review

Casio FR-2650A PLUS Printing Calculator
Average Reviews:

When you're hesitant to go to the expense of a cash register, this is a great calculator for a small retail business - which is exactly why I purchased it. The keys are large, paper roll insertion is easy and the automatic tax calculation key (TAX+) for sales is helpful. The Casio website is also helpful for tech support. I purchased this item used without a manual and needed to know how to set the tax rate. (It was preset to 5% and I needed to change it to 6.5%.) Within a day they emailed me back with step-by-step instructions. If you are also struggling to figure this out and can't find the info on the web (as I couldn't) here are the steps as they provided to me:
1. Set calculator to "print."
2. Press CA.
3. Press SET key for about 3 seconds.
4. Enter tax rate.
5. Press TAX+.
6. Press SET.
By the way, the SET key is the percent key.
Hope this helps!

Epson LQ-2090 24PIN 529CPS-DOTPR WCAR ( C11C559001 ) Review

Average Reviews:

I bought this printer for my company to replace a $3500 Epson DFX8000 which is now obsolete and repairing again and again was not a viable option. With that said, I searched for a more economical impact printer to do four-part invoices on continuous sheets. Later, I will go to laser style invoices. For this printer, it does exactly like it advertises and the actual appearance of my invoices has greatly improved with the 24 pin printer head instead of 9 pin. The ribbon has lasted for almost two months on a printer that does 65% of the work for a multi-state company. Once you figure out which font to use, it will double strike for better quality (slower print) or single strike for a faster print job. You have to remember to let the machine park the paper so that the paper thickness sensor resets the printer head and your paper does not jam.
The really bad thing is the fact that it comes with only one tractor assembly. That means that you have to switch the tractor assembly from either the front or the rear for optimum performance. If it came with two, then I could switch paper more conveniently. However, it was well worth the money I spent until I revamp the system and get a good laser printer when business picks up. Since it is a very good printer, I will be able to postpone investing more money.

This cartridge is listed as a Canon L50 cartridge..Also pictured as one. This is not a Canon catridge, but a canon compatible one..NOT AS ADVERTSED. The company claims it is Amazons fault and they say they will have it corrected, but as of right now it is still the same...False advertising on someones part...I needed a cartridge quick, so ended up keeping this one...No telling how long it will last, but the company is a sham...I was told that a new one and a re-conditioned one was the same thing..NOT so. The company is OC Products...Do not buy from them.

Casio DR-T120 Thermal Printing Calculator with 12-Digit Display Review

Casio DR-T120 Thermal Printing Calculator with 12-Digit Display
Average Reviews:

I was looking for a calculator that used thermal paper rolls, so that I would not have to continue replacing the ribbon as I did in my old calculator. This calculator fit the bill. The directions with it weren't the clearest in the world, but with a little help from my husband, I was able to set the time and date. Everything else is pretty much like a standard calculator.

The Casio DR-T120 calculator is a quiet one-color thermal printing model that fits well in busy offices. It has a 12-digit Digitron display and prints an impressive eight lines per second. In addition to the expected standard operations, the DR-T120 adds and subtracts by group and includes an independent add register; you can also round results up or down to a selected decimal setting. It is AC-powered for desktop use, and the built-in thermal paper rolls fit snugly inside a plastic casing--no bulky arms taking up extra space.

Casio DR-210 12 Digit Ink Ribbon Desktop DP Calculator Review

Casio DR-210 12 Digit Ink Ribbon Desktop DP Calculator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
That's a tentative 4.
Quiet, comfortable key touch, well placed key positions. Digital display bright and a good size. Easy paper load. Attractive. Nice conversion feature.
Paper on outside might cause problems on crowded or dirty desk areas.
We got our models for $50 at Office Max.
BIG DESIGN FLAW:
The clear panel in front of the paper is placed too high in relation to the paper tape feed. When seated, the first printed number remains completely out of sight until one has typed in two more numbers. One would have to constantly use the "feed" button, stand up, or prop the machine up at a 45 degree angle to see each number typed!!
Casio needs to fix this.
Problem two: it has (as did all the printing models there) reel to reel ribbon holders to load instead of cassettes. These are identical to those found in vintage typewriters, only tinier. I really don't get this change. A cassette is so much easier to load than fiddling with two reels of inky tape. This is technology regression!
Lesson: make the store put in some paper so you can try the thing out just as you will use it.

Canon MP11DX Printing Calculator Review

Canon MP11DX Printing Calculator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a CPA an adding machine is like an extension of my right hand at times. No matter how computerized things get I'll always want my trusty little adding machine. Since I found this little Canon about 5 years ago I've changed jobs a couple times, and every time I HAD to order this exact machine because of its ease of use and attractiveness. (I finally bought one with my own $$ for my current position so that I can take it with me if/when I move on to something new.) It has a nice silver color with a black "cover" over the blue numbers on the display. It has a clock and calendar option. It prints black positive numbers and red negative numbers.
If you get one of these, make sure you open up the top and take the tape off the ribbon. It's like scotch tape (or something similar) put on there for shipping. If you don't take it off, you'll think the machine is out of ink during the first week or two because the ribbon won't be moving.

Rode VideoMic Pro VMP Shotgun Microphone Review

Rode VideoMic Pro VMP Shotgun Microphone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this Rode VideoMic Pro Compact Shotgun microphone to go with my Panasonic TM900 camcorder since I travel a lot shooting interviews etc. I needed something that was light and compact in keeping with the scale of the TM900. I had very bad experiences with the Sennheiser MKE300 - wow has that company gone downhill. The Sennheiser had a constant hum and static and I couldn't get enough volume out of it.
I have the Rode Videomic which is good but is too big for the TM900 and I've found it unwieldy for traveling (somehow its Z shape and those rubber bands don't give me a lot of confidence).
The Videomic Pro however is almost a perfect match for the TM900. It fits well into the bracket and there's no problem with fitting the plug into the camera's mic socket (which is set at an angle). I also fitted a larger ring wide angle adapter(the EXII HD7X46)and this does not interfere with the mic.
The audio from the mic is great - it's quite sensitive but reducing to -10DB is generally adequate for normal interview situations - relatively quiet room, one subject facing camera and mic. Setting the internal recording level to 0 seems to do the trick. For quiet voices you can up the mic to 0db or +20db. I have not had occasion to use the latter yet.
The mic also has a high pass filter (HPF) which cuts rumble. I am not sure if this cuts wind sound significantly but will try that later.
The mic does not seem to pick up motor noise from my camera but then I don't do a lot of zooming when I'm filming (and when I have, the mic hasn't picked it up). Like my other Rode mic, it is also suspended on "rubber bands" but this time only two (and they give you spares). The rubber bands can detach quite easily so it's something to be aware of.
I like the inclusion of a LED light to tell you that the mic is on and also to tell you if the battery is ok or not.
I did NOT like the difficulty of inserting the battery. You have to futz around with the front cover which latches onto a groove under the actual barrel of the (foam covered) mic itself and then push up to latch the bottom. The diagram in the instruction book conveniently omits the actual mic! I guess it's always difficult the first time and maybe I'll get used to it. Anyway it's lucky that one good battery will last for around 70 hours (at least that's what Rode claims) so I hope I don't have to change the battery a lot.
Also for this price it would have been nice to get a case of some sort but no such luck. Anyway I use small Pelicans or soft foam bags for packing.
I haven't tried them yet but this mic can also be fitted to a boom, and there is a pistol grip for it. The bottom has a screw thread so you can put it on a stand but you will need an extension cord to reach the camera as the cord that is attached to the mic cannot be removed and is short.
The mic weighs 0.18 lb (86 g) and its dimensions are 1.69"x6.02"x3.74".
Conclusion: if you need a small and light mic for a similarly scaled camcorder, this is a great purchase. I'm very satisfied with it and it does a good job.

Casio HR-100TM 2-Color Printing Calculator Review

Casio HR-100TM 2-Color Printing Calculator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Many other reviewers have already made the point, I can only affirm it. For the price, it's a great calculator but the instructions are awful and very difficult to follow. I ended up spending $12 after the fact for replacement ink cartridges because not only are the directions/illustrations unclear about how to install the ink cartridge, but if one is not careful, the cartridge slips out of your fingers and easily becomes irretrievably lost inside the guts of the calculator. (I can hear it rattling around in there, but cannot get it out.) Be warned, local supply stores' listing of replacement cartridges will not have this model listed in their stores, so be sure to ask and make sure that you get the proper replacement cartridge (the HR 100 is NOT the same as the HR 100TM; I learned the hard way.)
