(More customer reviews)I bought the Monsoon MM-1000 system when it first came out in late 1998 and have nothing but the highest praise for it. The bass is deep and rich, but more importantly the mid and high tones are produced with extremely fluent and precise imagery through the flat panel speakers. This is something a lot of traditional computer systems fall down in. If you want the most heart pounding bass possible for games like Quake but don't really care about musical quality then go for the Klipsch Promedia. But if you do care a lot about the way music sounds, the way instruments remain clear and how the acoustic environment says "unmuddy" then the Monsoons are definitely a top choice.
Besides the excellent sound, these speakers look awesome; they might not have all the fancy indicator lights like Altec systems, but the space age flat panel design is sure to get wows. The subwoofer is also very attractive, enough so they you might not even want to put it under your desk! You can't really see to well from the picture, but there are two LEDs by the front buttons that light up red and green. The controls on the subwoofer are extremely smooth and precise, although the remote "puck" tends to add some noise when you change the volume. I got mine replaced and it worked fine after that, so maybe it was just an early model problem.
Overall, if you want a high tech look and great sound I can't recommend a better 2.1 system.

Sharp UX355L Plain-Paper Fax Machine Review

with excellent clarity and reliability. I have had no problem
with the paper feeder, although some of the other reviewers have indicated difficulties. The machine is compact and very attractive to look at. However, my complaint is that the image film and cartridge are very difficult to replace. As a result of considerable frustration, I jammed the plastic holding cartridge and have been trying to purchase a replacement--without success.

Canon MP18D II Professional Desktop Two Colors Printing Calculator Review

(More customer reviews)I've had a habit in the past of working so intensely when I get going that I absentmindedly dump my calculator off on the floor. The last one took that kind of abuse a couple of times and then I had to replace it. I obviously wanted to replace it with the same kind and then hopefully not abuse it.
This one is serving my purposes well and I haven't dumped it on the floor yet. I have it fastened down with Velcro, so I won't do that again.
This machine is easy to operate and functions well. I recommend it.
EDITED after much, much more use to say that I'm very pleased with it. I've had no problems. It's a good, solid machine.

We have found them reliable, easy to use, durable machines, and feel the price is reasonable for the quality of the machine. They do need replaced every 4 to 5 years, but by then we feel we have received our value from them, and have always replaced them with a Sharp machine identical or with very similar features to this one.

Brother 26.2-Foot Black on White 1/2-Inch Labeling Tape (TZ231) Review

(More customer reviews)I have used several Brother label makers, all of which use the TZ series tapes. Of those tapes, my two favorite are black on white in this width and the 3/8" width. I prefer the 1/2" width for hanging file folders because the label fits nicely on the tab. I like the 3/8" width (TZ-221) for use with manila folders because the narrower width positions closer to the edge of the tab.
There is also a 1/2" tape that is black on clear. However, the clear tapes also show any dirt or debris that might be trapped behind the tape. Thus, if you are in an environment that has even a small amount of dirt or other contamination, it may be readily visible against a light background after the tape is positioned.
One other caution regarding these tapes; the backing can be difficult to remove. The newer tape cartridges have a split backing that is easier to remove than the original single piece backing. Even so, a certain amount of manual dexterity is required to remove the backing.
UPDATE: Since the time I originally wrote this review, Brother has modified the backing to be in two pieces, making the backing easier to remove. However, the individual backing pieces can be a pain to throw away because they like to stick to just about everything through static electricity.
This tape adheres readily; the print is nicely defined and has a high contrast. The tape can be slightly difficult to handle. Overall, this tape is very useful in a variety of applications and one of my two favorite label maker tapes.
