(More customer reviews)This part worked just as advertised. It fit my 3GS without issue and fixed my mute/vib switch, power switch, and intermittent headphone jack sensor issues. This sells for $30-50 at the major Apple part houses, and there was nothing about this component that made me think it's anything but an OEM part with quality and function identical to my original. It probably really only costs $0.91 to make, but under $10 is still good value.
Installation is straightworward, but requires pretty much complete disassembly of the phone. If you have been debating battery replacement, do it now, because you need to remove it anyway (or at least the job is much easier if you do). The most fiddly part is swapping the switch components from the old cable to the new one - they require careful alignment and application of sticky tabs on the ribbon cable. If you're not good with precision X-acto work it might be worth a few bucks more to get the metal pre-installed, as I've seen available from other Amazon sellers.
This installation guide was invaluable. I used a bamboo chopstick sharpened to a point instead of a plasitc tool, which worked fine. Be sure to have a quality 00 Phillips, and be gentle. These are tiny screws and don't need much torque!
