I bought this keyboard to replace the one I have on my second laptop (Aspire 5740). So many buttons were missing and all kinds of tiny dirts were allover the keyboard.
I couldn't find a manual or a video to describe the way to replace it, so here I am sharing mine:
1. Turn the laptop upside down and remove the battery, you will find a black plastic cover below it, don't remove, it has nothing to do with this kind of job and it doesn't have any hidden screws below it.
2. Keep the laptop in the same position and remove the two screws that appear at the top corners (to the right and left of the battery).
3. Open the laptop's lid, and carefully remove the top panel. This is where your power button is. Try at the right corner first and work your way to the left slowly and very gently.
4. Once the panel is out of place, don't try to remove it completely. There will be a small connector still hanging between the panel and the laptop.
5. Rotate the panel so you can see the connector so you can remove it, it is a so easy job but you need to be so gentle again. The connector is attached to the panel throguh a clip, the clip is firmly holding the connector, you will see the clip has two colors (black and white) which hold the connector in between. With a very tiny flat screw, push the little black piece up. This is done from the connector's side because the black piece is closing on the connector as if it is biting on it.
6. You will see some pins at the top edge of the keyboard, with two small screw drivers (or a small knife), start at one edge and keep one screw driver 2 inches from the corner to pry the keyboard while you push the other pins up to free the keyboard.
7. Remove the keyboard carefully, this is done by pulling the keyboard away from its place (towards the lid).
8. Another connector, bigger this time, is connecting the keyboard to the laptop. Use the same way to open this clip and get the keyboard completely free form the laptop.
9. Keep the clip open, place the connector of the new keyboard in place, then return the black piece to its place to secure the keyboard's connector.
10. Place the keyboard back and make sure it is fitting in place at all edges.
11. Connect the panel again to the laptop in the same way you did in the keyboard's connector, then place the panel in place.
12. Turn the laptop upside down and put back the screws you removed, connect the battery, make a prayer, and turn your laptop on.
This is so easy, I am just trying to be specific so you don't break any component.
